Why is the district developing these classes to be delivered online?
Over 90% of college grads will take an online course at some point in their career, early
exposure to an online course will help them be successful in the future. Online classes will also
help free up time in student schedules so that they may take advantage of some of the authentic
learning experiences that are available.
Will the course be the same as the traditional class at PLHS?
Yes. The courses will be closely aligned to the courses that are taking place in school.
How will the online class be paced?
At same rate as in-person classes and according to the district pacing guide.
Is a device needed to take the class?
Students will need to provide their own. If a student does not have a device at home to take the
course, then the school will work with the student on a plan to make sure they can still take the course.
Will online classes ever have face to face meetings?
Yes, our online staff will be able to meet with students as needed. Teachers may decide to meet
once every few weeks just to check in on how things are going. Physical Science will meet
more regularly to conduct labs.
Can students take an online class as an 8th class?
Yes, however, next year’s juniors and seniors will have to take it pass/fail and freshmen/
sophomores will be graded. If it is their 7th class, all students will be graded normally.
