MISSION:
The PLHS Green Team’s mission is to implement projects that conserve resources and/or energy, and create awareness about changes people can make here in school and at home to do the same.
Why a Green Team?
It’s fun and effective! Individuals make most decisions that affect the environment in a school, so we have a big opportunity to make a difference. Raising environmental awareness is about creating positive social change.
CURRENT PROJECT:
Pollinator Garden a.k.a. “The Monarch Butterfly Garden”
The idea for the garden started in the summer of 2015 when Amy Himes, a PLHS Spanish Teacher and a UNO Doctoral Student, studied “green schools” in a School Facilities course at the University of Nebraska – Omaha. The PLHS Administration, along with Building and Grounds personnel, approved the plan and chose a site on the PLHS campus just outside the cafeteria windows.
