Circle of Friends is a group of positive peer role models who gain information and training on positively interacting with students who have challenges learning social skills. Positive peer role models learn about a variety of disabilities and how to promote inclusion. Being in Circle of Friends involves having daily conversations, periodically sharing lunch time, providing social skills feedback to the students with social difficulties, communicating with the Circle of Friends facilitators, and meeting several times per month with the group members to share progress and brainstorm ideas on how to help the students develop their skills. All members are asked to attend events outside of the school day such as high school athletics, theatre performances, community outings and other activities.
Meetings are held once a week at 7:30am-7:55am and social outings are held once per month.
